Chicago-based Hotel and Restaurant to Open in Heart of Hollywood
Chicago is having a moment in the heart of historic Hollywood. The Godfrey Hotel—a Chicago-based hotel brand with locations in Boston, Chicago, and Tampa—will open a new hotel on Cahuenga Boulevard by early 2020. The project is developed by Oxford Capital Group, designed by Steinberg Hart, with interiors by Chicago firm Gettys Group.
The seven-story building will feature 220 guest rooms along with a centralized courtyard, a fitness center, and a 6,000-sqaure-foot rooftop pool deck and bar. Simply called The Rooftop Pool & Lounge, the space will pay homage to the glam and glitz of old-fashioned Hollywood, and be one of the largest rooftop bars in Los Angeles.
The ground floor will be occupied by About Last Knife, a chef-driven gastropub-meets-steakhouse based out of Chicago. With a mission to make steak less serious and more fun, the menu offers traditional fare with an extra pop of attitude. Embracing word play, the “novel” cocktail menu features classics like The Giving Tree (sherry, cherry, apple), Burden of Proof (scotch, coffee liqueur), and My Wicked Wicked Ways (tequila, apricot, lime). About Last Knife will be open for brunch, lunch, happy hour, and dinner.
The Godfrey Hotel is located at 1400 Cahuenga Boulevard, within walking distance of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Sunset Boulevard, and plenty of shopping and dining.
